Myth 01 of 6 · busted

“It looks fine, so it must be safe.”

The reality: You can’t see grip.

Why it’s tempting to believe

A clean, shiny floor feels reassuring, and most of the time it’s walked on dry without anyone coming to grief. So it’s natural to assume it’s safe.

What’s actually true

Slip resistance is invisible. A floor that grips well when dry can drop straight into the high-risk band the instant it’s wet — and a high polish often makes that worse, not better. The eye is no guide at all.

What to do

You can’t see grip.

Have the floor pendulum-tested, wet as well as dry. That turns ‘it looks fine’ into a number you can actually rely on.
